On My Radar

This has been a really big work week and fitness week!  I have been following Tone It Up’s weekly schedule to a T and I’ve been running at a more competitive pace.  I am trying really hard to make some of my fitness and productivity resolutions more of a lifestyle change rather than a change for the new year.  So, happy first full week of 2015!

1.  Shia LaBeouf in Sia’s New Video

Shia LaBeouf and Maddie Ziegler are so perfect in this video.  It’s a little different, but actually really really good.  I really like Shia and this seems to be a completely new role for him and I’ve got to say, he nailed it.

2.  Lilly and Target

lilly pulitzer for target

Words can not begin to describe how excited I am about the Lilly Pulitzer and Target collaboration.  It’s going to make this spring that much more colorful, especially since things like pillows, beach towels, hammocks and many other home goods are going to be coming out!

3. Nicole Kidman and Jimmy Fallon

I mean, really.  Could this video be any funnier?  I was dying the whole time.  They are so funny and the conversation is incredibly comical.

4.  C. Wonder

New Site Logo

I was so sad to see the news that C.Wonder is no longer going to be a thing.  I really liked a lot of their products, but I guess they just decided to move on to other things.  So long driving mocs.  I really did like you.

5.  Baby Panda Seeing Snow for the First Time

Oh. My. Word.  DYING from cuteness.  I feel like this is the way I feel when we get the first snow of the season.  Every year.  It’s like this panda put all of my excitement toward the first snow into action.

6.  “Slap Her” Video

This is such an inspiring video.  I really love the way each little boy responds to the guy who tells them to slap the little girl.

What’s In My Bag

Remember that amazing C. Wonder bag I bought a few weeks ago?  Well, I haven’t stopped carrying it since I bought it and I’m in love.  I definitely recommend it.  The little pockets on the inside are perfect for holding my phone and lipgloss, or whatever else I need.  These are some things that I currently have in my bag.

what's in my BAG

1.  Sharpie Pen

These things are seriously amazing.  I’m super particular about what I use to write in my calendar and other personal notebooks, and the Sharpie pen is definitely a go to.

2.  Chapstick/Clinique Chubby Lipstick

My sweet sister gave me the perfect shade of this lovely Clinique Chubby Lipstick and I’m obsessed.  I also carry chapstick in case the wind is super cold that day and my lips end up hurting.

3.  iPhone

I feel like I don’t even need to mention this, but I always have my phone with me.  Always.

4.  Minimergency Kit

This thing is seriously amazing.  I swear it has everything in it.  I’ve had this particular one since high school and I (luckily) haven’t had to use it yet, but you never know when it might come in handy.

5.  Altoids

Or really any type of mint.  I refuse to carry around my toothbrush, so mints are the next best thing for after coffee or lunch, or to calm my nerves before an important meeting.

6.  Wallet

I have a really cute black wallet that my grandmother gave me a few years back.  I love it.  I have no idea where she got it, but it is the perfect size and is super chic.

7.  Hand Lotion

I am a compulsive hand washer.  I wash my hands all.the.time.  I really don’t like getting sick and I interact with so many people on a daily basis that I end up washing my hands a lot.  During the winter, especially, they get super dry so I always try to keep a bottle of lotion handy.

8.  Nail Polish

I always carry nail polish with me for when I have an unfortunate chip.  When my polish chips I can’t focus on anything but that chip until I’ve either picked off all the polish or touched it up.  For me, touching up seems to be the better option.

9.  Hand Sanitizer

Again with the washing of the hands.  I don’t always have access to a sink, so hand sanitizer it is.

10. Coffee Mug

I love drinking coffee on my commute to work.  I have a 30 minute drive, so I turn on NPR or my favorite talk show (Bobby Bones) and sip on the coffee.  It is handy to keep the mug in my bag throughout the day for if I want to fill it up with water or save $.10 when I’m buying a fresh brew.

11. Deodorant

I swear my office is the hottest place in the building.  I never ever want to worry about how I smell, so I say it is better safe than sorry.  I would rather keep some deodorant with me and not need it than need it and not have it.

12. Flash Drive

I love writing and never know when I’m going to have some down time to jot down a few words, so I constantly keep my flash drive with me.

13. Kate Spade Agenda

I’m very traditional when it comes to my calendar.  I can’t get into keeping everything on my phone.  Plus, I love the act of writing it down.  I keep my agenda with me everywhere I go because I never know when I might need to check it or schedule something.

14. Something Borrowed

This is my all-time favorite book and I am reading it for the millionth time.  It’s fine.  And it’s worth it.  I really enjoy Emily Giffin’s writing style and this book is definitely worth the read if you haven’t read it already.

15. Gym Lock

I never know when I’m going to be hitting the gym after work, so it is easier to keep my lock with me so I can keep all of my stuff secure while I’m working out.  There’s nothing worse than a missing lock being the reason you decided not to go to the gym.  It’s 2015.  No excuses for me.

16. Hair Accessories

Now that my hair is getting longer, there are times when I just need to get it out of my face or off my neck.  I try to always keep at least two bobby pins and a hair tie in my purse at all times.

17. Starbucks Card

I love a good cup of coffee, and sometimes I really need that afternoon pick-me-up, so having a Starbucks card handy is super helpful (thanks Dad!).

Bottle Stoppers

I am super loving bottle stoppers right now.  They add so much class to a bottle.  I mean, it’s the best of both worlds – you keep your wine sealed while also looking so much cuter than a plain old cork.  I have come across so many that I love, but these are definitely my favorite.  Anything initialed is perfect, and lately, I’ve been super obsessed with anything with a stag head on it!  These are my eight absolute favorite bottle stoppers. They are so classy and the perfect addition to your kitchen collection.

Bottle Stoppers

1.  Sur La Table Pinecone

This pinecone is so cute and perfect for winter.  I adore pinecones and think they are the perfect mix of cute and classy, especially during the cold winter months.

2.  C. Wonder Initial

I saw these the other day when I was shopping the sale and they really look super sturdy and are so on point.  The gold is really stylish and they are just the right size.  Plus, C. Wonder is having a 50 percent off sale online right now.  Shop on, friends, shop on.

3.  Francesca’s Antler

I wish I had seen this before Christmas because this is really fun.  I like that it is just an antler, rather than the whole stag head.  It’s creative and definitely unique, while still being trendy.

4.  Oliver Bonas’ Stag Head

Stag heads are super in right now.  They are so rustic and winter-y.  They can really add a lot to your kitchen at this time of year.  I like to add little pops of seasonal items without all-out decorating my apartment seasonally.

5.  Target Initial

I actually just bought this same stopper at Target the other day, and guess what, they are on sale right now!  They come in several different colors and are seriously too cute.

6.  Pier1 Stag Head

What I like about this one is that it is from Pier1.  There aren’t many cities without a Pier1, so if you’re someone who doesn’t like to shop online, then this is great!  All you have to do is drive to your local store and pick it up, no wait, no hassle.

7.  Burke Decor Anchor

I had to throw a little summer in there.  This anchor is so cute.  I love anchors and all things nautical, so this stopper is on point.

8.  Williams Sonoma Pineapple

Pineapples were super hot this summer and I’m not fully convinced that they aren’t coming back.  They are very fresh and summery and actually really fun.  I love eating pineapples, and I definitely don’t have any qualms with decorating with them!

Do you have a go-to bottle stopper that is your absolute favorite?  Please share!  I’d love to see your favorites

C. Wonder Steals

C. Wonder at Southpoint Mall in Durham was having a HUGE 75% off sale and, of course, I couldn’t resist.  I love C.Wonder, but hate to pay full price for anything, so when the entire store was on sale I was all over that.  I’ve been eyeing some of their smoking loafers for a while and I really like the look of their totes.

1.  I’ve been dying to get their ‘Southern Belle’ loafers, but had two problems.  One, they were $148, and two, they didn’t have my size, sigh.  So I scoured the internet in search of a pair that someone might have bought and then decided to sell, but it was to no avail, so I gave up.  THEN when this sale started happening I decided to give it one final shot and lo and behold, the shoes on display were my size! So, you can guess the end of this story, but I ended up getting the shoes and I couldn’t be happier about it.

Seriously, aren’t they adorable?

2.  Large Navy Tote

With my upcoming trip to NYC I’ve been trying to decide what kind of bag to use as my ‘personal’ since I am trying to not have to check a bag.  I wanted something large, but easy, that I could zip and carry a lot of stuff inside.  For a while, I thought I would just take my large vintage Dooney, but it is just so heavy, even when it is empty, so I was struggling with that decision since I’m going to be walking around quite a lot.  This tote is the perfect alternative.  It is cute and relaxed, easily dressed up or down, so I’m excited to load all my gear inside and head to the airport.

2.  Bee Happy

I love these and they are the perfect addition to my wardrobe, as well as a sweet reminder for my to look on the bright side of things, as I mentioned in my 2015 post!  Plus, they are can be worn in any season!

3.  Small Black Tote

I’ve been needing a good everyday bag, and I really like the Longchamp bags, but I wasn’t completely ready to make that huge of an investment.  I like the way they look, but I wasn’t quite ready to take the plunge.  This is the perfect alternative and I really like the decorative C on the front, it adds a nice little embellishment 🙂

TDF – To Die For

One of my favorite bloggers has a regular post she does called, “On my Radar” and I just love that I can expect to see it at least once a week.  I wanted to do something kind of similar to highlight the things I see in my many shopping adventures.  I am a pathological window shopper.  I love to walk around and see what is out there at the high-end stores and then I try to find it at a better price.  I call it treasure hunting, my friends call it time consuming.  My thoughts are, if you can get more bang for your buck, why not add a little challenge in there as well?  Thus, the “TDF” post is born.  The things I find on my scooterpoofin’** trips that I can’t help but swoon over!

1.  Sailboat Door Knocker

How adorable is this?  I saw it at Furbish Studio and I practically swooned.  My apartments are super nautical and my door is red, so it would be a perfect fit.  It would also make a great introduction to a beach house or a nautical, summery themed house!

2.  Monogrammed Acrylic Tray

I love this tray from Shop Dandy!  It is perfect for putting your jewelry after the end of a long day, or even for using on your desk to hold things like paper clips and thumb tacks.

3.  Place Card Set

I am always in the mood for planning a good party, and these Kate Spade place cards would be the perfect addition to a high class, girly afternoon tea or late night champagne gathering!

4.  Flamingo Smoking Slipper

C. Wonder has done it again.  I saw these this summer and fell in love, but now they are on sale for $68.00.  Need I say more?  Plus, right now, all sale is an additional 50% off!

5.  White Tipped Matches

I’ve been searching for some matches that I could put in a little decorative cup on my bedside table, but they are actually kind of hard to find.  Design Darling has a great selection of classy looking matches that would make a great, practical accent for your home.

It’s no secret that I drink a lot of coffee.  Lately, I’ve really enjoyed drinking my coffee out of teacups, instead of mugs.  They are so much more delicate and make me feel a bit more relaxed.  If I’m drinking out of a mug, I feel like I’m on my way to work.  But, if I drink out of a teacup, I feel like I’m sitting in the sun sipping tea and eating macaroons.  Ok, so it’s a bit far fetched, but when you lead a fast paced life you have to focus on the little things!

These are some of my absolutely favorite tea cups right now!

1. Sissinghurst Castle Mug

I love how feminine this floral cup is.  It’s perfect for a breezy spring morning.

2.  Vintage Aynsley Teal Teacup

This cup is so pretty and delicate.  The gold and teal are a perfect color combination.

3. Grace Avenue Cup

grace avenue cup

Kate Spade never disappoints.  I love her Grace Avenue dinnerware and I was thrilled to see that there was a teacup to match.  Now THIS is a cup to use for tea whilst eating macaroons.  Dreaming of NYC…

4. Ikat Tea for One Set

Gold is so in right now.  I love that this is a tea for one set.  Tea pots are such a classy accessory to have.  Perfect touch so you don’t have to keep brewing tea.

5. Tea for Two Cup

Tea For Two Cup

Words can’t even express how much I love this!  It’s the perfect thing for couples.  They fit together perfectly, like you and your sweetie, right? 😉

Plaid, Plaid, Plaid

When it starts getting closer to the holiday season, and temperatures begin to drop, is when I really dive into my favorite plaid pieces.  I love plaid – flannel, tights, blouses, skirts.  You name it.  Here are some of my favorite plaid pieces this season!

Anthropologie Plaid Loafers

These shoes speak for themselves.  They would be perfect with a black dress and tights, or cuffed boyfriend jeans.  They would add the perfect pop to your outfit, seasonal and classy, what more can you ask for?

C. Wonder Plaid Skinny Jeans

I recently discovered this amazing boutique called C. Wonder.  I was roaming around the Southpoint Mall, and of course I was magnetically drawn to the Lilly store.  I was pleasantly surprised by Lilly’s new neighbor, C. Wonder.  They have loads of adorable pieces that are timeless, yet trendy – like Lilly.  These pants are no exception.  They are dark enough to where they aren’t in your face, yet they add the pizazz that every outfit needs.

Ralph Lauren Plaid Gloves

Oh, Ralph.  You’ve done it again.  I am a self-proclaimed Ralph Lauren addict.  I attribute that to my mother and her excellent taste, she got me started at a young age.  These gloves are magical.  Too far? Maybe, but I’m not ashamed.

What are your favorite plaid pieces this season??
